Creative Labs Webcam Notebook Camera with Clip

Terrible pictures. Don't buy it if you don't want to be like a prisoner. It is not worth a penny!!! You will regret if you buy this product.
I like the Live Ultra webcam though. Bought it during Thanksgiving!
I got one of these since it was mac compatible with 3rd party drivers (check out macam). It worked on the mac, but had horrible picture quality on both mac and PC. It's just a cheap older-generation device with very grainy and washed out low-light performance.
I bought an Philips SPC900NC for the mac, much better due to the CCD (instead of the CMOS sensor in the Creative webcam).
I've tried to contact Creative for a few support requests, even about using this on a normal PC. They're very unresponsive and unhelpful, and the drivers are sometimes buggy (need a reboot to get the cam to work when it was working fine before). I'll be buying a different company's product next time, simply due to support.
Note this WILL NOT WORK WITH A MAC -- but it's a tidy little webcam with its own carrying case and despite Amazon's attempts to get you to buy an additional microphone, it comes with one included. Have communicated with persons using one on their laptops and video is pretty decent.
The video is VERY fuzzy. And after rebooting, it no longer transmitted a signal. Have to disconnect and then reconnect it to get it to work each time. Tech support was not able to help during the free-tech support period. I recommend trying a competitor's webcam.
I was surprise as to how small the web cam is but I like that because it's easily portable. If you get enough lighting, the image is clear. I just wished the camera rotates left to right instead of just up and down. But I would recommend this product; great for its value.
Got it today and loved the size and the way it is attached to monitors (Dell Latitude). Get one if you need portability, ease of use, and good bundled software. If you need it for more a professional experience, get 70USD up cameras.
Video quality is good, but you may need to adjust exposure manualy. Not a serious issue. Focus is nice, as well as depth.
I would not even give it 1 star if I could.
I felt sorry looking at the extremely poor quality picture - mannual on camera focusing is useless, white/color balance is way off and not fixable, exposure is terribly slow, resolution claimed (640x480) is meaningless with its low quality lens (seems a piece of plastic from used food wrap). Don't waste money or time on this item unless you are interested in the included carrying bag.
I bought a Creative WebCam NX Ultra 2 years ago and I would still give it a high 5 rating - excellent picture quality comparable to many consumer video camcorders, wide angle lens provides a better view without noticeable distortion, high quality white/color balance sharpness.
This webcam functions great but the image is not so clear (I was expecting too much from a webcam) as a camera. The headphone coming with the package is also very good.
This cam is decent for the price. It's a notebook cam and therefore very small. The quality of video is grainy and dark. But that's to be expected from a small, cheap webcam. It's still very usable in good lighting for Skype, Stickam, AIM etc. I keep this clipped on my notebook at all times. The cable is not too long and you can use the supplied velcro tie to keep it at your preferred length. It came with a soft case and a wired headset (one earphone and mic). I wasn't expecting the headset so that was a cool surprise. Overall you can't beat the price if you're not looking for perfect quality.
The only time, this webcam delivers good pictures is when you have a broad daylight over you or a tubelight just over your head. Otherwise pictures are too black and grainy. You can do better off without it!
Excellent customer service. Had a problem with one of the creative web cams.Returning the item was very easy especially printing the return instructions and the return label from the account.
I have been using this thing for a couple of months now. It is not professional quality by any stretch of the imagination, but for the price is more than adequate. It clips onto my Vaio laptop very nicely and was pretty easy to install. The usb cable sits nicely behind my screen.
Depending on lighting conditions, this cam can go from very grainy (low light) to fairly decent (lots of light). Again, if you are looking for spectacular images, this is probably not the cam for you. If you are looking for something that gets you stills and/or live cam feeds for a pretty reasonable price and clips to your laptop, this has a lot of bang for the buck.
I bought this cam about two weeks ago and I have been quite happy with it. I was previously using the Logitech QuickCam Orbit which does indeed have better picture quality and motion possibilities. But that cam was just too clunky for my current purposes (using a laptop with limited table space). I haven't noticed that the picture is dark and grainy as a lot of reviewers have noted. However, on my cam and computer, the picture does seem to be somewhat washed out and faded. I can deal with this factor as the compact size is perfect for my purposes and, when clipped to the top of my monitor, it allows me to look directly into the camera allowing people to have a direct "eye-to-eye" view of me. Yes, there are better webcams available. But, for the price, I find this to be a great little cam!
It's very simple to use at notebook, it's little enough to carry in the backpack, but the image is way too dark. I don't know if mine is bad, but I setup any possible setup wizard and I can't see me with more bright.
I bought this because I was tired of holding my CL NX pro in my left hand and typing with my right. Now I clip this baby on my ACER 3003 LCD and away I go. This camera has very sharp quality and is not bad for low light conditions. Under an ample amount of light the quality is realy good for this tiny camera. Software I do not use so I don't know how good it is. The installation went very smooth just plugged in the camera with the driver cd in and let winXP do the rest. The best part about it the ability to rotate it up and down.
1 problem which doesnt bother me because I use the camera up close anyway is the length of the cable. Its short to put it bluntly, at about 4 feet.
5 STARS!!! I got what I paid for!
I have used several WebCams and see that most require lots of light to work fine, while this comes automatically with a low light filter.
In short, I recommend this product.
I got this webcam for my husband, who travels for business. (Seeing each other's faces on web chats can be very cheering.) The camera is very nice and portable. It comes with a nice travel pouch and a velcro cord wrap. The resolution is crisp and movement is fluid, as webcams go.
(It is not the kind of fluidity you get with a video cam, but to get that, you have to spend a lot more money, and it's not that important for my purposes.)
The camera can pivot up & down and has a focusing ring. Both features are very useful. The only drawback, for me, is that is does not pivot side to side.
I'm taking it back. Grainy image in typical lighting, and the software is not intuitive at all. It took me forever to figure out how to configure the settings. Even after I did, the image was crap. Yes, it's small. So what?!!!
Pro:
1> Good design, looks good and complete fit for laptop.
2> Comes with a handy dandy small bag.
Cons:
1> Picture quality is extreamly bad. Doesn't stream well at all.
2> Doesn't work in low light.
3> Costly
Same performance at less price, great for instant messaging when compared to its higher models like Creative NX ultra
This product is so awesome that I cannot explain in words. It had brought a happiness in my parents eyes after seeing me in the cam.Though we live thousands of miles apart it has brought us very near. Thanks to Amazon.I love shopping with them
The image is not clear and the pictures are not continuous.
It stoped at 5% of the install process. I am annoyed about that.
Neat design and mine was cool for like the week it worked, but oeverall not that great. I had to send in my old one twice to get fixed (poor quality, color blotches, sometimes it would black out) and creative didnt fix it, so i sent it in again and they sent me a new one which is also a piece of crap. I realize if you have a laptop there might not be a lot of options if you are looking for something portable to attach to your screen, but i would recommed saving your money and Creative customer service leaves a lot to be desired too, if their crappy cameras dont already
Easy to Install !
Easy to Use !
Great Image Quality!!
1- I had better picture with my old $10 web-cam.
2- Limited rotation; can only twist up and down not left and right.
3- The software that comes with it interferes with my power saver tool terminates the auto hibernation, stand by feature.
I remember having impressing picture quality and transfer with cam called composite cam. Wish they came up with a cam having that kind of technology with that kind of good picture quality again.
THE SAID WEB CAMERA IS VERY SMALL EASSY TO CARRY WITH YOU ANY PLACE AND PERFOMANCE PERFECT EXCELLENT.
The style and easy of use with laptop is the plus point of this product. But the image quaity is not good. The image is dark even after the exposure is 100%.
It is a very good and cheap webcam, and also it was sent on time to me so I am very satisfied with this transaction.
The product is of very poor quality. The image hardly refreshes when connected to yahoo and most of all the picture is grainy and color is very dull. The picture will scare you off!!...Please go for other model. This model is not at all upto the expectation.
Thanks and Regards

My parents really like us having this cam as they can see their only grandchild on a regular basis. Yes, the lighting is an issue, but I just move a lamp over near my baby (at night) or open the shades (during the day) so they can see him clearly. Don't expect DV Cam resolution, etc. as you're only paying $31.99 after rebate. I think too many of these reviewers don't factor in the price and expect way too much for their money.
Note to Toshiba (i.e. Satellite) notebook owners. The screen on the laptop is curved at the edges which makes it much more difficult for this to remain well clipped. I'm constantly adjusting mine and wish the clip clasped a little further down on either side of the screen.
Just returned this webcam. Has terrible image quality, especially under low light conditions. Well, I would say even in average or typical lighting conditions, the imaging is still quite dark and noisy. Too bad, because I think they got the form factor right on this model.
i'm thinking of buying this notebook webcam, but i'd rather buy the nx pro. i bought one when amazon.com sold it for $39.99. now they don't sell it at all. i finding more and more products are not being sold by amazon.com but by other companies which is frustrating.
this camera is reviewed as bad with resolution but what choice do i have? it's either buy logitech which are expensive or buy a creative labs camera that marginally acceptable.
amazon.com i feel like i don't have any choices when you don't stock your webcams and other items.
I give it 2 stars for design and zero for performance. The physical attributes of this unit are great - rock solid mounting bracket, small size, moderate cost. Unfortunately its performance is terrible - low res, bad color reproduction, lousy low light performance. A mobile user will likely encounter many sub-optimal lighting situations and this camera isn't up to the task. Avoid this model unless you absolutely need the tiny form factor and don't care about image quality.
I bought my Creative Notebook Cam, almost 2 months ago. It was a nice small size for, the new notebook, I was getting.
You can expect, a clear picture, in normal daylight, but the only con, is the picure that it produces at night, in lower light levels. The picture will get grainy & spotted, as well as the FPS dropping down, below a good level 30 FPS in US
25FPS europe, is the normal camera speed for video.
If you setup a 100watt bulb, within 10 feet behind the notebook cam, it will be fine all night long.
I got this unit for use on a laptop. Something small, portable and easy to use. To that end it does it job. Setting, getting it clipped to the LCD screen, getting it positioned right is all easy enough. The Field of View is adequate for likely use.
The image quality on the other hand is not as great as others I have used (Logitech 4000 and Isight). The image is somewhat dark and grainy but still passable. The edges are not very well focused at all.
You should also note that there is no microphone either. You'll either need to shout at your laptop or get an external mic.
Installation and configuration was pretty much by the book on my windows 2000 Dell Latitude LS. No real surprises or problems.
As long as all you plan on being is a talking head and you need something fast and light this little guy will do the job. But if you want to do more than that your better off with something a bit bigger.
On to the negatives... Image quality is very poor, espeically in medium to low light. Pictures are very grainy and even with a 60 watt lamp in the room, still seemed underexposed. Software controls were not as easy to figure out as one would expect.
I gave it a low rating, because I really think that image quality is the most important factor. Design is great - i only wish image quality was better.
Pros:
Small and nice design
Install is easy though the program makes you go through hoops just to change some simple settings
Will work with decent quality with decent lighting.
Cons:
Just like any 'cheapie' webcam, the quality is par to sub-par as far as quality goes.
For $40 bucks, I think you may get better quality from other webcams. The reason why it costs more is because of its size.
I'll like it because is really small and you can tke it with you everywhere.
